Unique shiai strength conditioning and injury prevention seminar

Dear kendo clubs,
Team Canada will be holding a unique shiai strength conditioning and injury prevention seminar with the help of Dr. Frank Nhan (chiropractic doctor) and Dr. Mary Tam (registered massage therapist) from .
Please save the date:
Date: Saturday, September 6th, 2014
Time: 9:30 am- 12:30 pm
Location: Upper gym of U of T’s Athletic Centre.
The tentative schedule will include strength conditioning exercises to increase speed and agility, stretching and taping for injury treatment/prevention and also the opportunity to keiko with East Coast Team Canada prospects. We hope that everyone who is attending will learn something new so that they can have a long and healthy kendo life.
There will be a recommended donation of $10 for the seminar. Stay tuned for more details! We hope to see everyone there!
It is not mandatory to register for the event, but to help with the scheduling we would like to request clubs to e-mail a list of participants to Man-San Ma at [email protected]com by August 31st, 2014.

This year’s South Western Ontario Regional Dojos (SWORD)Tournament will be hosted by the University of Waterloo on Saturday, September 13, 2014 Deadline to submit your waiver and money to the club is July 25, 2014. Tournament fee is $40with an addition $10 for lunch.

The available division categories for this tournament to register in are: Non-bogu,Mudansha, Shodan-Nidan, Sanda and up, and Womens.

Please email [email protected] to show your interest, but registration will not be complete until you submit your waiver and money. Please sign and complete and make appropriate arrangements to deliver your portion of the registration to Clara or Nick before the deadline.


The 8th Annual Keishicho (Tokyo Police Force) Sensei Kendo Seminar

Dear Sensei and Kendo Friends,

We are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Keishicho (Tokyo Police Force) Sensei Kendo Seminar hosted by Kendo Ontario and Etobicoke Olympium Kendo / Iaido Club. Last year we were fortunate to have Adachi Hideyuki sensei lead a very successful seminar.

This year, Takeuchi Masato sensei (6 Dan) from Keishicho will lead the seminar.

9:30 – 12:30 Morning seminar (Kendo Basic for Non Bogu participants)
12:30 – 1:30 Lunch
1:30 – 4:30 Afternoon Seminar (Kendo Basics with Bogu / Waza with bogu) / Godo Keiko
5:30 – 11:00 Dinner Party (location TBA)

The purpose of this seminar is to have as many kendoka as possible to see, feel and experience Keishicho Kendo. We hope this seminar will inspire and create a deeper interest towards Kendo for all the participants.
The seminar will be followed by a dinner with Takeuchi Masato sensei where everyone will have an opportunity to ask questions and get to know Masato sensei better.

The location, time and fees for dinner are to be determined.

Please have one representative from each dojo contact Ryo Yasumura by as soon as possible with the number of members interested in attending the seminar. In addition, please notify the number of members who will be attending the dinner with Masato Sensei. Dinner fee will be collected prior to dinner. (Please have payment ready in cash.)
