We would like to announce the details of the 2018 New Years Kendo Ontario Godo Geiko. All bogu members are invited to attend this annual event and be a part of celebrating the start of another year with your kendo community.
Date: Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Time: From 1:00PM to approximately 2:30PM, followed by a small refreshment
Location: Dr Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute, 200 Fundy Bay Boulevard, Scarborough, ON, M1W 3G1 (see map below).

On Sunday, October 22nd, the Etobicoke Kendo Club will be hosting the Fall Ontario Junior Kendo Tournament. We invite everyone interested in competing to come join us to help the development and spirit of Kendo.

On Saturday September 9th, a General Meeting of Kendo Ontario was held at the University of Toronto and attended by over 23 members from 12 different kendo clubs. A general update and status of Kendo Ontario was presented as well as an election for a new Board of Directors and Executive. We would like to announce the result of this election as follows:
The new Board of Directors is;

On Saturday, November 5th, Kendo Ontario will be holding a shimpan seminar at the University of Toronto. This seminar is designed to improve the skills of shimpan for the upcoming JCCC Senior Tournament on Nov 19th. We encourage all potential shimpan to keep this date available. Details to follow shortly.

We are pleased to announce that our sister club from Japan, Osaka Prefecture University Kendo Club will be visiting Toronto on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016. We will be hosting two major events open to other clubs in Ontario, a reception dinner on Saturday, September 10th and a seminar led by OPU Kendo Club sensei on Sunday, September 11th.
The reception dinner with Osaka Prefecture University Kendo Club will take place at Chestnut Residence (89 Chestnut Street, Toronto) on Saturday, September 10th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Please have one representative from each dojo contact us at [email protected] by Friday, September 2nd with the number of members interested in attending the reception dinner. Please note that there will be an entrance fee (price TBA).
On Sunday, September 11th, Osaka Prefecture University Kendo Club sensei, Masayuki Hamaguchi-sensei and Shinji Tsubouchi-sensei will be leading a seminar from 1:00pm-4:30pm.

University of Toronto Kendo Club
I hope the summer is going well. Please see the attached for the event being held by the Mississauga Kendo Club on August 6th for Junior Kenshi. There will be a special guest from Japan running the practice that day. All correspondence should be sent directly to the member of the MKC as indicated.
The Mississauga Kendo Club, with the support of the Ontario Kendo Federation, are hosting a special Junior Kendo Seminar on August 6th, from 9:30 – 11:30 am. Our guest sensei for this special event is Ryuichi Kimura Sensei (7-dan Kyoshi) of Omachi Shonen Kendo Club in Japan. Please see the attached documents for event details and registration.

Kimura Sensei wanted to hold a Kids Kendo Seminar and Godo Keiko with a guest Sensei from Japan.
This is the date:
Aug. 6th – Kids Kendo Seminar and Godo Keiko with Kimura Sensei (Nagano) at MKC. 12-5pm
Aug. 6th – After keiko party (BBQ) at locale TBD

On Saturday February 20, from 2~4:30 pm at University of Toronto Kendo Ontario will hold a womens’ only kendo practice. This practice, run by Bora Choi of Jungko Kendo Club, will be another opportunity for women kendo players in Ontario to practice together, especially with some shiai coming up. We encourage all women members to come out and practice. Should you have any questions, please contact us.
